Managing Diabetes Complications

.

Diabetic Incontinence

If you have been living with diabetes for more than 8 years, add a urologist or urogynecologist to your medical team. Bladder dysfunction resulting from diabetic nerve damage (autonomic neuropathy) effects 40% to 80% of people with diabetes.

If you do not control your blood glucose levels, the damage to the urinary system including the kidneys becomes worse. Unfortunately, you may not even know your bladder is not operating properly.Urinary SystemUrinary System

Managing Complications

People are naturally optimistic. Before they sense complications they tend to not believe complications will happen. And once they have begun treatment with positive results, then they start to loose their discipline. They forget to take medications; start eating more sugary foods; don't feel like exercising. Before you know it, their blood glucose is high again - back to square one.

Unfortunately, this behavior occurs with many people. We also see it in "yo-yo" dieters.

Complications

My aunt has a problem with circulation to her feet. Should she bathe them with epsom salts?
