Grapefruit and Diabetes
Grapefruit may help to reduce blood sugar levels in individuals that have Diabetes, though studies are not entirely conclusive. A 2003 study into the effectiveness of the fruit showed that individuals that consumed half of a grapefruit before each meal for 12 weeks lost an average of 3.6 pounds, compared to the control group, which lost about half a pound.
Cinnamon and Diabetes
Recent studies indicate that cinnamon may help to prevent the onset of Type 2 Diabetes. Just a teaspoon of the popular spice is all that is needed to help fat cells respond to the body’s naturally-produced insulin in order to lower blood sugar levels by an average of 20%. Once a Diabetic begins taking regular doses of cinnamon, his or her body should respond within 40 days.

In most cases, acupuncture treats the complications of Diabetes, such as poor circulation and nerve damage, but may have very little effect in actually delaying the onset of Diabetes.
