5 A day starch versus 5 A day fruit and veggies

Well how did I do today in my quest to change how I eat, from 5 a day starches to 5 a day fruits and veggies?
I had oatmeal for breakfast, 1 serving of starch. I then had a slice of pizza for lunch and a piece of fruit, so that counts for 1 serving of starch. For dinner I had 1 serving of rice, one of my favorites and 2 servings of veggies and 1 piece of fruit. That totals to 3 servings of starch today. That gets a hooray! My fruit/veggie count was 4 for the day. Shy of the goal so no gold star! I could have nailed it if I had tomato juice with breakfast or some strawberries with breakfast. More adjustment required to make the goal. We will see how I do tomorrow.
The most shocking news that I had today was about how many calories should someone of my size have daily. Check this link out to find out about yours: my meal plan. To lose weight, a person of my stature should only have 1,200 to 1,600 calories per day. That does not seem like a lot to me! The other discovery is that I like wine, so that uses up some of my calorie allowance. Makes this task of losing 5% of my body fat quite difficult!
Good news today, I did get off the chair and walked outside. I walked for about 45 minutes and it did tons for my state of mind and my body I am sure. I am now a little sore in the legs, but it feels like I have done something, so I am on the right track.
I made sure to drink some water before I left for my walk, and took it nice and slow to warm up. Then made the pace a little more brisk, not too much so that I would be out of breath. And of course, had a cool down for the last round. I should have done more stretching, but I will do that tomorrow.
So why don't we talk tomorrow about how well I meet my 5 a day fruit and veggies goal as well as the stretching I plan to do to work out these kinks from walking today.
