Preventing Type 2 Diabetes is Not Profitable

.

Economics appears to be a significant barrier to preventing Type 2 diabetes. Chronic diseases last a longtime and cost a lot of money to manage. Many industries profit from causing and treating Type 2 diabetes mellitus. Using direct cost estimates and indirect cost estimates, the annual overall cost of diabetes is estimated to range between $90 billion and $137 billion. The questions that beg to be answered are, what is the cost of prevention? And, why don't we focus on prevention?

The mathematics is very simple when you consider "qui bono" (who benefits). First, Food companies make a huge profit selling junk foods. Junk FoodsJunk Foods Otherwise, they would not spend the billions of dollars to advertise 20,000 hours of "junk foods" ads to kids.

Consider the cost of physician care for diabetes, a chronic disease:
1. Endocrinologist (hormone specialist) $____;
2. Pharmaceutical cost of drugs and delivery system $___;
3. Dermatologist (skin specialist) $___;
4. Ophthalmologist (eye specialist) $___;
5. Certified Diabetic Educators and dietitians;
6. Podiatrist (Foot specialist) $___.

The cost of surgical treatment of your complications:
1. Amputations cost $___;
2. Coronary surgeries cost $___;
3. Stroke victims surgery and care cost $___;
4. Kidney surgery and dialysis cost $___;
5. Eye surgeries cost $_____;
6. Organ transplantations cost $___;

The personal cost of:
1. Losing the opportunity of income $___;
2. The cost of prematurely losing:
your health, your leg, your vision,
3. The suffering of people who love and care for you.
4. Caregivers loss of income while caring for you
5. Losing your life prematurely.

NOW consider the cost of prevention:
1. Learning about the keys to prevent Type 2 diabetes cost $____;
2. Eating healthy meals cost $____;
3. Walking a few miles per day $___;
4. visiting your doctor and follow his/her advice cost $____.

Yep, its that easy. Try it on yourself and/or your kids. I guaranty a great return on your investment.

There are many studies reported by many reputable organization that estimate the cost of managing diabetes. Search "cost of diabetes" on search engines like Google and see for ourselves. Fill in the missing numbers and draw your on conclusion.

Avandia: Good and Bad

Avandia (rosiglitazone) has been publicly exposed as increasing the risk of heart attacks by 43% and heart death by 61%. Statistical analysis by Dr. Steven Nissen has shown what has been known by many physicians and researchers since 2000. Dr. Nissen's numbers state heart damage events of 43% while GlaxoSmithKlines' number states 30%.

What this health alarm says is GlaxoSmithKline has suppressed the side effects of rosiglitazone. Not only does Avandia inrease the risk of damage to the hearts of users, but it also appears to inrease the risk of:
•weight gain (increase appetite plus water retension)

•water retension (adema)which can lead to heart failure.
•fractures of the upper arm, hand, and feet.

Rosiglitazone has a variety of other side effects. These can be identified on the world wide web or on the information sheet accompanying the drug.

Contact your endocrinologist or general practioner about what to do.

Zyprexa's Diabetes Side Effect

Zyprexa an antipsychotic drug causes obeisity and Type 2 diabetes in some patients who take it.

If you know a relative or good friend who is taking this medication, warn them about the weight gain and diabetes side effects. Suggest they get tested for high blood glucose levels.

Zyprexa's box should contain a warning of diabetes side effect.

Avandia

Despite GlaxoSmithKline's pressure on critics like Dr. Steven Nissen, the data still holds that Avandia and Actos still raise the risk of heart attacks.

Contact your physician especially if you have any heart issues.

Avandia, and Actos are Unsafe

Recently, a number of news articles have been published highlighting that the popular Type-2 diabetes oral medications Avandia and Actos increase the chances of heart attack and death.

The FDA has finally demanded the manufacturers add a black box warning regarding this danger. Black box warnings indicate very serious side effects. The next available action is the FDA demands the product be taken off the market. It is amazing how GlaxoSmithKline, the maker of Avandia tried to deny their product's deadly side-effect.

Ask your doctor about a safer replacement for Avandia, and Actos.

How are these studies done?

doesn't it just raise a question about the research?

Drug Use

It is obvious that drug companies want life-long drug users - They make more money with that strategy. There is little to no money in prevention. I think doctors are probably in the same camp as drug companies. Especially the physicians who are wined and dined by these rich companies.

A chronic diseases like T-1 and T-2 diabetes. What a deal. A life of non-stop drug purchases.
