Recent studies indicate that cinnamon may help to prevent the onset of Type 2 Diabetes. Just a teaspoon of the popular spice is all that is needed to help fat cells respond to the body’s naturally-produced insulin in order to lower blood sugar levels by an average of 20%. Once a Diabetic begins taking regular doses of cinnamon, his or her body should respond within 40 days.
Cinnamon contains a substance called MHCP that is so effective in helping Type 2 Diabetics process sugar that many doctors have started recommending that their patients take a quarter teaspoonful of cinnamon two to three times a day. MHCP works by mimicking the effects of insulin and stimulating the insulin receptors in fat and muscle cells to receive sugar.
Additionally, cinnamon is proven to lower bad cholesterol. As such, the spice appears to be an effective and holistic solution to weight loss, Diabetes care, and improved general health.
